I have been wondering if it is possible to set up home security that would alert your smart phone. I know you can do most anything now but I am a little tech challanged.

Here's one my brother has and he can monitor his home from his Iphone. It will also send him an email alert when the motion cameras are activated. Fairly inexpensive.

Nerdy I know, but you inspired me and I just wrote two android apps to do this through wifi if you have 2 spare wifi android phones. Requires an already installed security system minus control box and keypads. More phones will enable you to have more keypads.
One phone runs the control box app. The others are keypads. Will sound the siren and SMS/email/VOIP you when the alarm is tripped. Not going to go into more details yet as I may want to market this some day. Would not require much skill to install. Come to think of it, you'd only need one spare phone, because you could just run the keypad app on your normal cell phone.Comment
