    Emu need HighFence?

The reason I ask is I have never seen one behind regular 4 strand bar wire......Until right now off Telge Rd in Tomball. So what is the verdict? It is it an escapee or just an Emu going about his biz?

Seen plenty of them around here behind a regular 5 strand barbed wire fence. I guess they keep the bugs at bay or something. I know of one place that has had an emu in the pasture for like 10 years it seems like. Never gets out.

Our neighbor has them everywhere he runs goats. No need for high fence.

The ranch where I first hunted exotics had them behind a regular ole goat fence.

            I don't think they can fly....LOL

But they canbreak 2x6's after you shoot them in the head and they start flopping. Makes for a huge nasty tasting drumbstick.

When the bottom fell out on them 10-15 yrs ago we just turned them out on a low fence place. Don't know if any other people did this but we saw them for years after that.

We turned some loose after the bottom fell out a while back too. Ours didnt hang around long, they would lean up against the fence until they flopped over to the other side. Then they would take off running, never to be seen again. Fence was 4 strand barb, no one was too sad to see em go. It was hilarious to watch.
