I really don't even know why I am posting this, I guess I am trying to come to grips with the loss, maybe a vent, maybe just trying to let a little out. I got a text from the son of a guy I have known for some 35 odd years. The text said
"dad had a heart attack, we are on the way to the hospital" I was in total shock, I ask if there was anything I could do, he said he would let me know, I sat for about 15 minutes in total disbelief waiting on any news. I couldn't take it anymore so I text for an update and to tell him I was on the way, He said they were about to come in and update them, as I was headed out the door another text came through saying that he did not make it. I have hunted and fished with this guy most of my life, I was there when all of his kids were born, we have been in more than the law allows and always seemed to come out on top. Just one of the friends that no matter what time of day or night, he was just a phone call away.
I talked with his wife and found out that is was a very sudden thing, he was talking with and helping the girls with a few things when he just sat back in his chair and it was over. At first they though he was just being silly, but quickly realized this was no joke. What ever it was that took his life was very serious and something you do not come back from. His wife gave CPR until help arrived, they jumped in and took over doing all they could do but it was to little to late. He never complained about anything, and I am sure he would have confided in me had he had some kind of health issue.
I know you all know this, but the saying "you never know" has rang true for me.
God speed my friend, get it all scouted out, I will join you once again. Until then, know that you will be missed.
