Anyone hunt in Wyoming on Private land?

Never hunted out of state and am thinking of going next year. A friend has family that owns land in Wyoming and we are thinking of going Pronghorn hunting next year. All I can find online is information about draw hunts.

Does Wyoming have over the counter tags for Pronghorn or is everything drawn hunts? Wondering about Private land. Their Fish and Game Website is kind of confusing.

    Any help is appreciated.

Not sure about private land, but even with the draw they usually have tags left over. We had no problem getting tags thru the draw. We went on our honeymoon two years ago and had a blast, the state s beautiful and the pronghorn are plentiful. Your friends family should be able to see if the have guaranteed tags for the land they own.

Have fun and take lots of pictures!!

Its been a couple of years but I believe all buck tags are draw only to a specific area(region). They do sell doe tags over the counter in some units.

My understanding is that Wyoming has great access for non residents via trespass fees & good tag opportunities.

Call the fish & game department in the area you want to hunt, I'm sure they can assist....they want our out of state money!

All of the buck tags will be draw only. They do usually have some over the counter doe tags, depending on what region you are going to be hunting. I have never heard of wyoming releasing land owner tags, but I haven't really looked into it that much. When I lived up there getting permission to hunt most private land was as easy as asking, most people will have no problem letting you hunt as long as you close the gates and clean up after yourself. They also have more public land open to hunting then you could ever use. Also if the program is still going they have "walk in areas" basically it is publically opened private land, the only catch is you can't use any type of motorized vehicle while your on the land. What town is close to where you are trying to go and I might be able to help you out a little more.

There are all types of units... from high quality, tough to draw units to easier to draw yet lower quality units. I drew one of the better units and harvested this goat on my second ever pronghorn hunt in south central Wyoming.

Only a few days before this draw hunt, I went on my very first hunt for antelope and took this guy off of a leftover tag that I purchased at the last minute...

Wyoming is chock full of antelope. Just learn all that you can from their website and go huntin!

We will probably be around Moorcroft. Unit 7. From my understanding most of the good public areas are central and s. central Wyoming. I will pm WyoHunter.

I think this is why I am confused. The only information on the website I found was for draw hunts. How did you buy a tag? Do they not have all tags drawn and then sell them? A friend of a friend just bought a tag last year and was not in a draw.

                      Nice goat!
