I was pulling the batteries on some feeders today when I met a big sow in the trail with some little pigs behind her. She stopped and grunted at about 10 yards and then made short "bluff" charge. I had my Taurus PT 709 Slim 9mm in my right front pocket. She might have been bluffing but I took her threat seriously. I dont remember pulling out my pistol. I dont remember taking it off safey (the 709 Slim has a manual safety). I dont remember my sight picture. I do remember the pop...pop as I double tapped her in the head at about 7 yards. Game over. The Winchester PDX1 Bonded 124 gr. +P did great. Here is the hog and one of the bullets.

Mike- That's the opposite experience I had last night....was driving down the fence line at our place, saw a hog in the road 150 yds or so ahead. Rifle was in the case behind the back seat of my truck, put my .45 was in the console next to me. Hit the gas, tried to catch up but ran out of road.....
So, I got out of the truck with my Sig P220 in one hand and a maglite in the other....when I came over the hill the hog saw me and bolted! Needless to say, a hog's sprinting abilities are a little better than mine and the dang thing got away!
Congrats on the Piggie and the self-defense!
