First off I want to Thank everyone that has asked in on me yesterday and today. Ya'll are the reason we always say that the Green Screen is extended family. Ma Bradley I think saw this after all the support and well wishes I've receieved on face book and other messaging.
Again, Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Yesterday started like most of my days off, hunt or start my to-do list. To-do won out since most of my cold weather gear needed washing bad and my computer needed updates (Internet Stinks out here esp. for big downloads), get cattle feed etc; etc;. Hook up our low boy and head to town to make a dent in it.
Half way thru I'm sitting in the libiary and my sister calls, repeatedly to tell me "Mom says you need to get home NOW". thinking my Dad was hurt or worse I call my Mom. She tells me to just get home, don't get in no hurry but your house is on fire.

Too say I kinda followed that advice is stretching the truth, I'm thankful Brazoria Sherriff's Office was elsewhere on the road.
Pull up on the scene and it's too little too late. No the house is not big, in fact Shack is a better term for it (It was a lunch shack in a refinery before we made a efficiency apartment out of it) but it's reduced to nothing. Only reason it didn't catch out big barn on fire was my Dogs in a kennel next to it for my dad to poke his head out of they're cattle barn and see smoke.
Just about everything I owned in this world save a basket of dirty blue jeans, jackets and my laptop was in there. Clothes, Guns, hunting/fishing gear my bow was up in smoke. The worse though was my cat Cali was inside
.
Cali came to me by way most our barn cats do, some Jack wagon dumps her off in the country because they don't want them and the Marshbillies or coyotes will take care of their problem. Cali showed up around 2000-2001 and stayed at the front of our property and kinda became a Puesdo-kitty for a friend's four year old daughter. Apparently from early on this was a laid back cat as Mom said that the kid could pick her up and drag her anywhere.
2002 and I'm up from College in Kingsville and we go out to where we live now to see my Grandfather. We're talking to him and see Cali impaled thru her shoulder on one of his Tomato cages. We pull her off and check her out, seems fine and go to feed. This is when my mom tells me what a sweet cat she is (At the time I tolerated cats that did they're job, wasn't big on having them as pets) etc; etc;. Bright idea hits me that'll kill two birds with one stone: Take cat to Kingsville to kill mice in my trailer and give Girlfriend at the time a pet. Win win!!
Needless too say me and this cat been thru alot, thick and thin. She kept tracking dogs in constant fear inside a house (Not a bad problem actually) and kept hunting guides thinking by messing with them. One buddy moved into a house I was renting knowing she was there, she spent three hours jacking with him by walking into his room jingling her tags then sneaking out before he could catch her by keeping them silent. He called me to ask if I was sure I had a cat and not a **** ghost

RIP El Gato, you deserved better
Pics of what's after
Again, I want to thank all those that have reached out, Rubydog, The Scribners, Tippets, Maples (MboltM), KFD82, and many others. Like folks have said "I'm just glad that Russ has such great friends like this" and I couldn't agree more. Thanks guys and gals and Bless everyone one of y'all
