he will have to get about 525 ab to kick in the vesting option. if healthy he will give the rangers a big lefthanded bat. i think it is the first of a few moves or the precursor to a big move

Except for the year he was a cardinal and won the series with them. He should easily replace the lost production at the plate from Napoli leaving.

You might want to do a double check on that.

You got to be a special kind of stupid to sign a 37yr old DH who only played 32 games last year because he had not one but two knee surgeries. Here's hoping his fat *** can't pass the physical.

I'm not holding out much hope for the Rangers this year, except for watching youngsters develop.

I also think Kenny Rogers wants to come back and bring Juan Gonzales and Julio Franco with him since the Rangers are so into signing players from the old folks home!

He had a part of a season with the Cards, and came to spring training the next year in great shape and had a really good year. Last year spent a lot of time on the DL but was still a good veteran to have in the dugout with younger guys.

He last played for the Astros in 10, then he went to cardinals in 11 and 12.

He can still swing the bat better than most, is a solid person (avid outdoorsman and Christian Man), and will be an asset to the club (I could care less about the rangers or baseball in general btw). I always get a chuckle with people who name call on the www what they wouldn't dream of in person. I know Lance and his family personally (don't know you) but would guess you would never call him a fat*** in person.

I loved it when everyone was calling him Fat Elvis they were playing in Chicago and a fan threw a Twinkie at him. He picked it up, waved at the stands, and ate it!

Lance has been one of my favorite Astros since his first season in Houston.
I was happy for him when he finally got a ring with the Cards. (sure wish he could have got one in Houston!)

I'd love to hang out around the campfire with him one day, I like his values. He always gave honest answers to reporters, even when his opinions were not popular.

And Berkman brings out the haters.....AGAIN. I see a repeat in the near future. Very happy for you Ranger fans if this is true. You got yourself a dang good son of a gun!!

Couldn't have said it any better Frank.

I know Berkman as well. He's visited my fishing lodge several times. Great character, Christian, hunter and stick. One of those guys that contributes in many ways on a team.

Good lord... It's a waste! Unless he was brought in to fill the locker room void from MY departure.

More damaged goods for the Rangers. I like him and hope it works out, but coming off of two surgeries? Ouch.
