Released probably close to 30 out of traps in my day. A heavy cloth tarp or a release pole can be your best friend.

I still laugh every time I think about this...

Back when I was in my 20's a friend of mine and I were riding around on the lease in my old Willys jeep drinking a few beers and shooting quail when I drove up on a tree about 20' off the road and about 8' tall with three little bobcats in it...I'd guess they were about 10# and just cute as they could be...

My friend got the bright idea he wanted to catch one for a pet.

I was like...uhhhh dude...that's not a good idea...they are WAY too big to catch...

He seriously insulted my manhood and then asked for my welding gloves...I told him they weren't enough and he insulted my manhood again so I was like...OK...but don't scream for me to help when that little cat kicks your ***...

He snuck up on the tree (not really, all three little cats were staring at him all the way) and reached up and grabbed the closest one...

All you could see was this furry whirling ball of legs and claws and all you could hear was my friend screaming at the top of his lungs like a little girl.

I was dying laughing.

As soon as he grabbed that little cat it spun and bit right through the welding glove (and my buddies hand) then held on and worked him over with all 4 feet....

I yelled LET HIM GOOOO!

And he yelled (voice about 4 octaves higher than normal)..."I DIIIIIIID! He won't let MEEEEEE GOOOOO!"

It probably didn't last longer than 10 seconds but that little cat worked him over good...I ended up taking him to the hospital in Uvalde to get the deeper cuts cleaned and stitched, antibiotics, tetanus, etc.

Naturally I had to tell the story to everyone that would listen and it spread around that little hospital like wildfire...had several nurses come in from other parts of the hospital and ask my friend...'hey...are you the dumbass that tried to catch the bobcat?"

Haha I tried to release a coon from a foot hold trap once. After a few failed attempts me .22 helped my out Good for these guys trying but I would be taking home fur...

They are lucky that kitty was a little disoriented instead of being in survival mode or they would have been in a world of hurt. I don't think I would ever walk towards a ****** off bobcat like that.
