    Electrical idiot needs your help!

So, I got a welder for Xmas (yaaa!) but I have a problem. It's a 220 welder and I don't have an outlet for that in my garage. The welder will be used right by the breaker in me garage and I assume there's a way to get it plugged up at the breaker, right? Maybe not...
Can anybody help me out on this problem? Thanks

PS: If this is something I shouldn't take myself and anyone here can do it for me that isn't too far from Midlothina Tx I have cash in hand!

    Absolutely......

Get yourself a 220V welding recepticle and a 2 pole breaker for your box.....maybe you have one installed already?

Depending on Amperage you're going to need to size it for your welder, I think most are 50A, I could be wrong about that though.

Get the correct wire, without my reference handy I'd reach and say 8 AWG, possibly 6. Then wire it into your recepticle out of your power panel.

Just make sure, whatever you do, that you have the appropriate sized breaker installed for it.....or else you'll find it a pain in the butt when you turn up the heat!

Can you wait a couple of weeks? I can hook you up but it would likely be the 19th or possibly a Wednesday evening.

Hey if you do it by yourself I would recommend turning off your main just in case. If your not real familiar with electrical work.

Go in the house and disconnect the Clothes dryer... use that plug. Call it .."the welding room"

Wait till one of the guys comes to help you. Giving electrical advice on the green screen is a no-no in my thinking.
