TC rifle owners - question about scope mounts

Saw some pictures of scope mounts on a TC and noticed there is a small gap between the barrel and scope base. Is this the norm for most of those barrels being tapered enough the base will not sit flush on it?

If so, noticed any accuracy issues that may cause?

Absolutely normal bud.Doesn't effect a thing.In fact i have a 223 BBL that shoots 1/2 in groups all day with a solid base and Warne Rings.

I think my base is a Leupold for the dovetail rings. You can see the (4) screws at the rear, rock steady with no gap.
