Why a Spring Break for children K through 12

A parent dictating where his adult child/stepchild can or cannot do sure sounds like a control freak to me.

I agree with you to a point. But if someone's living under my roof, eating my food, etc., their age isn't the issue. Whether they're 18 or 38, they can either live by my rules or pack their crap and get out. So, yeah, you're right that he doesn't technically need permission to go to SPI. But he just MIGHT need permission to come home afterwards.

Just because you didnt get a spring break dosent mean us high schoolers dont. I was supposed to go done to Port A but i have a baseball tournament. That really made me mad!!!!

You probably should spend more time in English and Typing class.

I am sure that Natalie Holloway was raised the right way and her parents thought that she was mature enough to handle herself.

I might be wrong and correct me if I am, but I am think that was an ESCORTED class trip.

FYI, You dont have to go to SPI to do all that stuff!

And Spring Break is good! Wish I still had one.

I know the lake well (only natural lake in the state of Texas)....i thought you were implying that there was a 'South Padre Island' type gathering there for spring break!

Sure there is I used to go and get drunk up there all the time when I was 17. I don't get this thread the fact of the manor is a kid is going to be a kid with or without spring break and they are going to party. I just try and talk to them and let them know not to do anything stupid like drive or ride with someone that has been drinking. I have gotten calls to come and pick them up and you know what I was mad that they had been drinking but at least they are using thier heads, which is more than I did when I was a teen.

I don't know why K-12 kids need a spring break, but my spring break started about an hour ago...and so far, I am enjoying it!
