We've had it in my house for a week. It's no bull****! I don't take the shot because the only time iv had the flu other than now is the year I had a flu shot. But, my 20 month old had the shot and he tested positive for both A and B strain. Who the hell knows. I know iv coughed about 9,999,999 times more that I'd like too

If you get it now, it takes about 2 weeks to be effective.

Can't get the flu from the shot. Common misconception for a lot of people. From what I've heard is that what is going around now is that if you had the shot and still get sick, it'll probably be 5-7 days worth of sick. If you didn't get the shot, you are looking 10-14 days of being sick.

I took the shot in October and had the flu around Thanksgiving, although not for long.

I still haven't kicked the cough though.

Chris is out with the flu now.

Oh I'm fully aware of the non live virus. Never said I thought the shot gave me the flu. Just think it had to do with bad luck so iv stuck with what kept me well lol. I'm in health care field and probably should get it. Just for some reason never do. My family, who all had the vaccine, have been sick just as long and maybe sicker than I have. They've all been sick since the 23rd i didnt start feeling bad util the 27th and was down about 3 days. It all has to do with what strains the vaccines are prepared for, which apparently was not correct for the strains we have. Good luck to all who have it. Mine is now just the cough and won't seem to go away lol

It can take 2 weeks for the full immunity from the shot. The shot is about 80% effective. Some people will still get the flu, but, if so, it will be a milder case of it.
Alot of people get viruses this time of year and call it "the flu", but it is not.
Some people have various mild reactions to the flu shot. Alot of which is the immune system working. This is a good thing. Some people have more severe symptoms from the flu shot. I had a moderate effect from it this year, but, I also had another vaccine at the same time so I don't know for sure which one or the combo that gave me the symptoms. Was short of breath and ran a bit of a fever for 2 days after the shots.
The flu itself, can be and is very deadly to some people. Even healthy people. For someone with health problems immunity problems it could be fatal.
Get the shot unless you are allergic to the preservatives in it. Worth it.
Those of us in the healthcare field that choose not to get the shot have to wear a mask around people til the season is over. I couldn't stand to wear a mask for 12 hours/day for 5 months!!!!!

The other thing about the Flu shot it is a SWAG as to which STRAIN of the type A and type B that will be the most prevalent that year. There are multiple strains of each and if the shot is not a good match for what you are/were exposed to then there is no protection. Yes, I also am a provider, and yes I did get the shot.
