First off I shoot switchback xt and it will never leave me.
You could look into the Mission brand of bows. They are made by Matthews and a lot cheaper. I rigged a new menace out for 400.00 with everything. It's a kids bow but still could work great for an adult they have several models to choose from.

Just make sure it is the correct draw length. I think you have to replace the entire cam on the older bows to change draw length...

I have a DXT, 29 70, ive shot every new line up from mathews, and a select few from other makers, none of which made me want to lay down my DXT and switch. I'd go with a DXT or switchback xt as my second choice.
