    Looking for shotgun shell reloader

I'm getting into reloading shells and would like to do 12 gauge. I've looked at cabelas and can get a lee or mec reloader. Wandering how much I would save reloading myself and how much is the loader and everything I would need to do it??? I'm new so anything would be great.

    Thanks garrett

If you want a no b.s. loader that will last the rest of your life get a ponsness warren. Also they taper crimp your ammo.

      Or if you shoot alot.

The Patriot progressive shotshell reloader Ponsness/Warren doesn't make the cheapest reloaders on the market, but they do make some of the best. Our lab has been using the model 375 to load our test loads for as long as we've been in business. In fact, we still have the first one we ever bought. The Patriot is made by the folks at Ponsness/Warren and makes reloading thousands of shells a breeze. The Patriot includes several unique features which are not found in any other reloader current on the marketplace. These features combine to maximize your reloading enjoyment and productivity: Needle Bearings in the base unit Bronze bushings in the crosshead & wad carrier Case-activated shot and powder Large primer tray Primer track tapper Primer tray wave system (self-induced vibration) Large locking spent-primer box Ergonomical handle External adjusting shell seating post Double-charge locking system (setting the standard in safety) Lead or steel shot reloading capability

I have a Lee Load-All $ 40.00 . Works great ! Great way to start and not spend very much money on getting started .

The MEC 600 is a great loader to start out with. It wont load as fast as a progressive but if your just loading for hunting it will do great. It's a good loader to learn with.

The last time I checked it was cheaper to buy shells than primers and powder.

I have some stuff I need to clear out. It's just taking up space here... It's a Ponsness Warren 800B that is setup for 20 guage. Also have a MEC that I believe is set up for 12. I also have a TON of charge bars for the MEC.

                  Where are you located?

A MEC is a great place to start. I'm using one that my dad bought used about 37 or 38 years ago.

Downside to loading shotshells is the shot. At $40-50 for a 25 lb bag it is generally cheaper to buy the inexpensive Academy or Walmart shells. If you reqularly shoot the premium ammo then you can save a bit.

I reloaded (Lee) when I was in a skeet/trap league but for bird hunting it's cheaper to buy it by the case.
