    Need hunting help!!

I am new to hunting and I haven't been fortunete enough to get a lease so haven't been able to deer hunt. I have got permits for 380 in Denton and grapevine lake to hunt hogs the only problem is I have no idea how to hunt them. I have been out several times and seen sign but can't seem to find them sorry for the long post but if anyone can give me some pointers it would be much appreciated going out tommorow and trying again. One reason I want to learn to hunt them is because my girls want to go with me but they get bored quick so it's hard to get them to go with me now lol they always say I want to go but are we gonna see anything

Like said above find wallers that are heavily used, thick brush with tunnels, and if you play your cards right the trails they use as well.

As for baiting, take corn and beer or wine (the cheap stuff) and anything nasty pretty much, Capri sun, hello packets, the works and mix it in a 5 gallon bucket and let it ferment for a minimum couple days I usually try and let it sit for at least a week when I make it. And go out and dig a post hole 2-2.5' down no bigger than maybe 8" diameter and fill the hole with your corn mash and cover it up. They'll quickly seek out the corn and within a day or 2 you oughta have pretty steady activity hittin it to root that stuff outta there.

I like to hunt them at night, 9 times outta 10 they'll be moving more then than during the daylight! As for takin your kiddos at night that's your call but can get pretty creepy at times so it may not be a good idea if you want them to get into it more and not shy away from it!

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, pig huntin is one of my favorite kinds of huntin there is! Good Luck!

It's more common than you would think! And it does suck if you don't have an idea of where your going or anything, my recommendations on that is spend and entire day or 2 when you have nothing going on, walking every inch of the property you can get to in the area your hunting. This helps familiarize yourself with the area and what landmarks and trails are where and where they go and kinda gets you a better idea of where to set up and walk around and such!

It's pretty dang addicting when you get into em and go out more often at night!

As far as gettin your kids out I would set up a spot that's a hot area for activity and do the corn in the hole trick and see how that pans out! And from what I've seen if your settin over a spot, if at all possible get as high off the ground as you can! They're pretty dead gum smart and at lavon where I do most my huntin, if you have a corn pile they'll come to it but will circle downwind and if somethin don't smell right will busy and not come in until your gone!

Cool I will try the buried corn I bought a pop up for my daughters to stay in when we go. I got a tree hanger to but don't want my kids in them lol

Is it legal to use bait on public land?

This may have been "dumb luck" for all I know, but here goes...
A good friend of mine was cleaning out a 55 gal. Barrrel last weekend. It was full of stinky corn, somehow water got in the barrel...and a few hours later there were pigs on it.He killed one of em,but he just couldn't believe they sniffed it out so quick!

I can't quote you the law,but everybody I know that hunts on public land will carry a little corn with them every time they go.One fella's been doing that for 20 yrs.
