I guess you do. I always bought the super combo, so I never thought about it.

Not if he's using a rifle but if he's planning on using archery equipment then yes he needs the archery stamp even in the general season.

An archery stamp is only required during archery only season, with the exception of Collin, Dallas, Grayson, and Rockwall counties where a stamp is required to hunt with archery equipment anytime. During general season one is not needed except those counties I listed. You can find this info on TPWD web site under hunting regulations, then look in the means and methods section about 1/4 of the way down in the archery and crossbows section. I also called my local TPWD and asked to verify what I read.

Archery Stamp Endorsement (Type 135): $7
Required to hunt deer or turkey during an Archery-Only open season. Required to hunt deer at any time in
              Grayson County.

Copied directly out of the Regulation handbook, page 30. Note- It should now say, Collin, Dallas, Rockwall AND Grayson county.

As you can see, only needed during Archery Only season. Not needed in General Season except for counties noted.

Same info can be found in your outdoor annual, the little paperback book that is free when you get your lics., short cut to find it this year is open the book to the middle staples, turn one page to the back, almost half way down on page 62 under archery and crossbows.
I usually pick three of these books up, there free, and keep one in a ziplock bag in my hunting pack, one in the truck, and one in the house.

I offered to take a friend on a hunt, when he showed up I asked if he had bought his lics., he said he'd get it if he shot one....wrong answer!! I told him he could either go buy one now or he could go home, he bought one then we went hunting. Wish you guys best of luck!
