Never seen the movie, interesting article though. Not sure where I stand on it. I guess I don't see a problem with them studying what they can from Lanza but I'd hate for them to see an abnormality and stigmatize a large group of people who might have the same mutation (if one is found). I think the problem lies deeper than just DNA, it's much more affected by environment, although if you're mentally ill you can grow up in the best enviornment and still have issues.

          Whats the point?

I mean after a profile is made are they gonna 'mark' newborns as killers? Seems like a waste of time. Spend the money on a lethal injection for any that dont off themselves firsts, whats left over use it on death row

Geez. I'm never going to be asked to study any DNA. But, i'm dubious to say the least. This reminds of one communist leader, Lenin?, whose brain was sliced into micro slices for study. The goal was to find the source of his "greatness". This proposal would seem to be equally ridiculous. To me, "Insane", is all i need to know. But who knows?

Well, you guys said they should spend less time on gun control and more time studying and understanding mental illness, right? What's the problem now? Studying the genetics of mental illness is a step toward understanding it.

It also appears they are having a university do it, so it'll be a good study for someone.

Well i was about to bash their study as a waste of time, but you bring up a good point, lol!
Maybe they'll find something, and maybe not.

The thing is, its a waste of who's time? Student's? It'll be studied by a university, not funded by the govt.

I suspect they will find nothing particularly remarkable about Lanza's DNA. But, hey, whatever spins your centrifuge.
