Headed to NYC this June --- needing help on where to stay

Headed to a couple of Yankees games in the final season of Yankee Stadium. I am sure some of TBHers have been to NYC, so can anyone advise of some good places to stay and places to stay away....

Also location needs to be good for the wife

Stay near central park......near.......unless you don't mind $300+ per night. Plenty of great hotels in that area with shopping and sight seeing stuff for the Mrs. My wife and daughter go every year by themselves for the Christmas Spectacular. The city is a ton of fun and very safe.......if you don't walk around like a tourist. (i.e, staring at the TALL buildings) I would look on line NOW and find some deals before everyone and there brother begin to book for the Yankee home stands. Both of you guys are gonna have a BLAST.....open mind is all it takes!

Stay in Texas. Not much good happens north of the Red River...

It assume it would be a lot cheaper to stay on the "NJ-side" of the river, and drive-in every day- but that's NOT staying in New York. Try priceline.com for hotels in NYC, I'd try to stay in midtown Manhattan. Stay the f out of the Bronx where Yankee stadium is!

PM me, give me a # and I'll call if you want. I grew up in that area, a "great place to be from".

If you want a recommendation for one of the best Italian restaurants in NY, Manducattis in Astoria is like something out of this world, and congressman-types eat there, Anthony is the owner's son and the wine-master. My kid brother brought me there. There is an outstanding Czech restaurant in Long Island City called Zlata Praha. Both are across the Queensboro (59th Street) bridge.
