    Remington xmark trigger question

This may be a dumb question but I just bought a 700 sps and it says you can adjust the trigger with the turn of a screw. My question is can you take the screw all the way out because I dont like the way it sticks out when you lighten the trigger? Thanks in advance, Tugboat

The drections say to Take the whole thing out place directly into toilet and replace with a timney.

X2 on jewel I have several. Even with the screw removed the trigger will function around 4 lbs.

I don't know the answer to the original question but those saying that the Xmark trigger should be removed really should educate themselves. Some of the best marksman in the world use that trigger every day in combat. Its good enough for or snipers its good enough for me.

My adj. screw is gone, I have also adjusted the trigger and it is crisp and break's pretty light. I wouldnt mess with it much if you arent familiar with the remington trigger's though. They can be made to work very well but like said above a timney or jewel are tough to beat.

I played with the remington trigger quite a bit and measured with the tool...never could get anywhere close to where I wanted it.

Timney got the job done....down to 2.23lbs.

Back it out till you find the poundage you like. Mark the length it is sticking out, completely remove the screw and carefully file off that amount and then replace.

smb has your answer. I just had a rifle built, it has the xmark trigger. On my trigger gauge it shows an average of 2 pounds and is very smooth. Carrry it and spend $40 it is worth it sometimes.

ditto on the jewell comments.... if you can stand to pay for a trigger that cost half as much as a standard model 700....

i got a timney on my ruger, loved it....then bought a sendero with a jewell and OMG!! thats timney is no comparison!! jewell hvr is the way to go.... all the adjustment you will EVER need

I'd also suggest a bottom safety on the Jewell

the fire/safe lever is activated by your index finger right by the trigger guard

                              it just feels good
