    Rattling in Bucks

I rattled in a few bucks the other morning for the first time and was wondering how do you get them to stop or hang around for a while? They came running in looked around for a few seconds and continued off into the brush. It seemed as though getting a shot would be complete luck with one having to stop in a shooting lane. Any tips would be much appreciated

A hot doe decoy. Or a fast shooter.

Your location of where you set up is important, I always try to set up where you have multiple shooting lanes. I personally look for a thicket and try to set up in some smaller brush outside of it.

When they are not looking, try a short grunt.

Most of the deer that I rattle up will either approach from down wind or will most always circle down wind, so try to set up shooting lanes/decoys accordingly.

Would taking a 3-d doe target and putting it in a shooting lane draw them in to take a look? I will try taking a grunt call next time. Would doe urine get them to come down a trail or do you think when responding to rattling they are more interested in fighting?
