Trading or selling handed down pistol question?

I have a Colt revolver chambered in 32-20 WCF manufactured in 1910 that came from my great great uncles collection and was given to me by my great grandmother. It is in very good condition for its age and still functions and shoots flawlessly. I am not sure if it has been registered. Can I trade it to a gun shop/sell it or does it have to be registered in my name? Thanks in advance.

PS I would keep it but I see no point in keeping a gun I will never use and I am not a collector...

Who exactly would you register it with?

If you want to sell it or give it away, just do so. I wouldn't even know how to register a gun you own.

Ok, I didn't mean register, I meant that it is not in my name and not sure who was the original owner. I have never sold or traded a gun and didn't know if there is a reason that I couln't? I know there is not a registry, though we might not be far from it, but I didn't know about the background check and all since it is a pistol. I just did't ask the question right... Thanks for the info.

It is an individual selling another individual a piece of property one of them owns. Just like if I were to buy a shovel from you at a garage sale you were having.

keep it was passed down threw the family , no need to sell , look at it as an family heirloom and not a weapon or commodities

I will post up some pics this weekend, but not dead set on getting rid of it. I understand that it is a family heirloom but like I said before I see no point in having a gun I will not use and I also do not collect things. It would be nice for someone to actually enjoy owning it, either to look at or to use...

Just due a simple bill of sale. My brother sells a lot of guns. It pertects you if it gets used in a crime or malfuntions. I have attached one I found on the net but there are tons of them to chose from. Find one that fits your needs.
