    Building a pistol range backstop

Looking for ideas to build a pistol backstop. Thinking about a solid 4x8 plywood backing with sand bags 4' wide and 6' tall. Thoughts?

You might try to find some old tires and stack them up and fill them with sand. They would probably hold up better/longer than sans bags.

This sounds like a good idea

Call some local pool builders and see if they have any jobs close and tell them they could dump a couple of loads of clean fill at your place for free.

I worry if we shot 22's if the bullets could bounce off....

Get you some old round bales....works great, I set 2 end to end, annd shoot my rifles at them too. Not good if you have cattle on your place.

I built one not to long ago....18ft wide (9 ft new cross ties) and 6ft tall. With two rows of sand bags on top with a full dirt berm behind it and on the side to catch any deflections.
