Harrold TX ISD allows teachers to CC

Just saw on our news channel that the small town of Harrold has been allowing their teachers to carry concealed since 2007. The superintendent seemed pretty confident with it even though they are criticized by area schools. Said that emergency personel would take up to 20 minutes to arrive if an incedent ever happened so they have to protect themselves their own way. Way to go Harrold, need more of this around.

What they said in the interview I heard was, only if the superintendent approves and allows it.

They can leave it in their vehicle. They cannot carry it into the school without authorization.

Personally I think that any CHL holder should be allowed to carry in any school especially here in Texas.

At the discretion of the district. Of the 1032 school districts in Texas, Harrold is the only one who has publicly allowed teachers with a CCL to carry on campus. I am a teacher and have a CCL and cannot bring a gun on campus because it is a "gun free zone". In the event of an shooter on campus I would make every effort to protect the students and disable the threat, even taking a bullet for them if necessary. It would make since to me that I should be able to discreetly arm myself to protect my students.

my dil teaches there they have been carrying for a few years.the school is a million miles from nowhere

My wife is a school teacher and I wish that they could carry. She teaches elementary and there are no police or security on campus, and it bothers me.
