Not anymore...but I've been there where you are! California, living on ship, far east, middle east.....the whole time thinking about home. The holidays were the worse. But as all things, this too shall pass, and you will be home soon! Thanks for your service and sacrifice.
I spent 5 years in corp and missed Texas every day of it. Now I work in the Siesmic business and miss it for 30 days at a time. Right now I am in Nebraska getting ready to head for Alabama. But In two weeks I get to go home for 14 days and will be heading home as fast a my truck will carry me.
Being away from home in the service makes you appreciate home so much more. You realize how much your early years meant to you. Hug 'em a little tighter when you get home and you can't tell them enough how much you love them.
Thanks for your service and hurry back!
I'm missing it right now. I've been to Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Mississippi in the last year alone. I got stationed in Las Vegas and even though I left Texas two weeks ago I miss it dearly. My dads weekend BBQ, getting in the truck and going to Lake Amistad or shooting some axis or even just seeing wildife period. Normaly I like my assignments but this place just isn't for me . Counting down the days till Christmas .
Used to miss it like crazy when I was on active duty. Today is a one of those sunny but cold spring days...but in a few weeks, the bluebonnets will be popping up. They'll still be here and all of the things you are missing will be here when you get back.
It is easy to miss Texas from the middle of the ocean on sea duty! Serving our country is great, but the time away from Home, Texas, makes it hard. Looking forward to retirement in about a year. Thanks to all my brothers and sisters in the service for their sacrifice, some have it a lot a harder than others nonetheless we all serve for the right reasons.
