Anybody hunt down around Cotula?

Me and my son will be down there from Dec 27-30 doing some hunting. We were trying to figure out if and when the rut will start down there. Will rattling work that late? Will doe in heat urine be good? Any advice will be great.

Rut started about a week ago. Will probably be lock down/ post rut by then. Might be tough hunting. Food sources might be your best bet.

It has been on for a week. I was in Dilley last week and bucks were chasing does pretty hard. After the rain Saturday it kicked off big time. The moisture really helped.

I'm down the road from you and I can tell you that here in Catarina, all of the the mature bucks are gone (paired up with does) and the bucks are no longer guarding the feeders or chasing the does because they all have girlfriends...if you know what I mean. This is only what I have observed for what it worth...been hunting since Friday.

Man I need to tidy up a bit!!!

We are headed to Chaparral in three days for the youth hunt. Any more updates?
