    Garage Storage Options?

I have an attached garage but am looking for storage optons that would go above head, not wall cabinets. Anybody have any pics or ideas? Thanks.

this summer I finished a long storage shelf that runs the length of my garage.
It's tied in to my rafters with angle iron and hung from the ceiling with allthread (1/4") and bolted to unistrut then I have 1/2" plywood as the shelving and mounted it to the wall. shelf is ~24" deep and tall enough for big rubbermaid containers to sit on it. I can take a pic of it when I get home and the material list if you send me a PM. It turned out really cool and did wonders for giving me room to move in my garage.

If you have 4x8 foot running along a wall (8' side), I built from 2x4s and particle board a 3 shelf unit that holds an amazing amount of boxes. I can take a picture if you want. I was advised (warned?) about building a storage structure from my rafters to hold any serious amount of weight since they were sized for lateral loads and not vertical, but I'm not an ME to calculate if it's true.

go to carguygarage.com and check them out. We just bought a new house with a huge garage and they have some really nice storage solutions etc. I have three of the overhead lift systems already and they are great.

Here's a few pics of what it turned out like. I sent you a PM with the material list last night.

Here's what I built from 2x4's and particle board shelves. I have a 2x4 under the middle of each shelf to prevent sagging. It's a mess now with the Christmas decorations taken out but you get an incredible amount of storage space in the 4x8 floor space.

here is an idea for you. Look at the space above the garage door when it is open. Thats a great place for storage when it is framed and decked out. Keep all your stuff out of sight when the door is open. Just a thought works well for me.

There's never enough storage space in garages, but rollout shelves and sliding bypass units can make more efficient use of sidewalls.
