    They ALMOST got me!

    Tis the season for THEIVES!

Yesterday after church, we stopped at Wal-mart to buy some gifts for an inner city children's program, wrapped them in the parking lot, and then took them back to church. I bought the gifts with my debit card. That charge, for $99 went through fine.

I didn't use the card again till about 7:00PM, at Wataburger, to get a drink. That charge for $2 was declined. I figured it was their machine, so I paid with another account and went home.

I had a message from my bank, so I called back. It was their fraud department. Apparently, someone had SWIPED my card at a Target, in some weird town. That charge, for $55 was declined, twice.

As many times as my bank has been a pain in the keester, the caught this one in time and saved me lots of headaches. No money was taken out of my account and all I need to do is order a new card as they have already cancelled my old one.

Glad they caught it. My bank didn't and they wiped out a checking account in a matter of hours. Took months to get it back.

Glad they caught it. I am totally fine when my debit card gets declined, it has happened a couple times over the years, and every time it has been because a charge was out of the ordinary. Sometimes they are from me but a time or two they have been fraud.

They got my credit card number at a restaurant and went on a cabelas phone order spree. They caught it after $500.

                        I have no idea.
From other stuff I have read, it's not that hard to make the pysical part of a credit/debit card.
They could have just picked a random 16 digit number and added it to a card.

Has happened to me twice--once when we were in Branson over Christmas and once when we were in Colorado for a wedding. Now I have 2 cards, but only carry the 2nd one while traveling. Thankfully, didn't cost me any $$, just inconvenience.

They got me last year. One for $50 ( guess it was to test it out) then a $500 one. Good think i have USAA, money was back in my account within 72 hours. They got my card number and i was out of the country at that point
