I shot one this year that I was pretty confident that he was well over 13" -

Here's a picture of him along with the doe my daugher shot the same evening.

Well, once I got him home I decided to measure to be sure. Guess what. He was just BARELY 13". I figured he'd go 14 easy. I had a chance to look at him through a 9x scope at 80 yards for a while before I shot. He looked well past his ears. And it's not that he was a small deer either. He was a very healthy buck. Easily the biggest I've shot in Texas.

So, be careful.

Is that one of them CVA Hunters I see?? If so how does it shoot? It seems pretty solid, and been contemplating pickin up a CVA in a .243 or .22-250 but havent heard many reviews good or bad!

Yeah, he is right at 13", I would say 120-130

I think he will make it no problem because one main beam seems to be taller then the other. So it will measure diagonally and be longer than it would if it was a more normal horizontal measurement of the inside spread.

I bet he would be 14 and change inside.

Good call, he aint worth what it would cost. Maybe next year if he makes it.

I say he goes around 110". And yes I believe he will be 13". Not much to spare tho. I know "the law is the law", but that is not the kind of buck that the law is intended to protect. That looks to be a mature buck that needs to be killed. It would take a pretty hard core GW to write you a ticket for him even if he was 1/2 inch short. I say ground check him!
