No matter how many laws you make or how difficult it becomes to purchase a weapon or how many kids are on medication, watch violent video games or tv shows........ there is always gonna be a few people with loose screws that will do things we do not understand or would not do ourselves.

Parenting is hard enough with normal thinking and acting kids.

Reminds me of Ozzy Osborn getting blamed for a suicide back in the day.

Heard a CFB thread was fixing to fire up. You'll have plenty of people to bash over there that dont agree with you
        Good day.
Relax dude. I was mostly just messing with you.

Not even you actually. More like the extreme over the top country boy rednecks that think any other type of person is "weird" and hates Austin because of this. LOL.

Don't judge people because they are different than you. I bet you wear tinght wranglers and an oversized starched shirt. Plenty of people think that is wierd CRAP. LOL.
Parents use game consoles as baby sitters... A lot of those guilty of this would argue they don't. Those same parents likely don't know what games their kids are playing or the content!

I know adults that play these ridiculous games for hours and hours...they typically aren't the outdoors type!

I love violent video games. It's mindless fun.

This accusation is a generational thing... the parents of the people who are blaming violent video games for the destruction of today's youth blamed the destruction of yesterday's youth on Rock Music.

I don't blame them. The only problem I have are the parents using game consoles as a device to keep their children out of their hair.

How about parents spend time with their children, take them place's, be a positive role model, show them love and compassion?? Im betting that would work wonders on a how a child act's in the future.

People have been using things to keep kids out of their hair since there were kids, hair and things.

What do you think slapping a BB gun in your kids hand and telling them to go outside is?

Granted... its better for hunting that a parent do that instead of plopping them down in front of the TV... but the result is the same.

This was my point in my earlier post.

When a bi-polar person(they used to just call them crazy) is in a rage their actions are completly justfied in their mind when they are not medicated.

I was one of the people who claimed that ADD stood for Adult Discipline Deficiency. Then God blessed us with a child with a near genius level IQ and a psychological disorder. I was against any medication at all at first. We finally found a Dr. willing to work with us to find the lowest dosage possible to help her maintain some balance. With medication we have some rough times. Without medication it can be pure hell.

Regardless of a child's emotional state it is the parent's and family's responsibility to teach a child right from wrong, respect of his or her fellow man and their property. This is where our society is failing.

My kids dont play shooter games but they know reality from a game. They know it is wrong to kill somone. They also have a close relationship with God.

I will never understand why this shooter did this. I can only pray for the families who lost their children and pray for the parents of our country that we raise children to be good people.

I'm not sure. My dad was always with me or within viewing distance when I had any type of gun in my hand. Back to different parenting philosophies, I suppose. He was the interactive type! I plan to mimic...

My primary example comes from my divorced SIL, luckily she has both of the boys involved in sports... When dad has them, he (a gamer) lets them play all of the above for hours on in while he does as he pleases. Console = baby sitter.

                        They're 9 and 6.

Maybe he's the only one in this country that does this.

Do you think a 9 and 6 year old should be playing Oblivion, Assassins Creed, COD, etc...?

Watching the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers and all the others are nothing in comparison as to what we see in video games, movies, and everyday tv shows today. Use to you would see the shot and then a red stain maybe on the person shot. In todays shows they go so much deeper you get slow motion replay with an emphasis on the violence occurring and very graphic pics of damage done by whatever means was use for the violence. I believe for the most part we are becoming more desensitized to bloody graphic violence. For 99.5 or so percent of us its no big deal we understand the difference between real and fiction and that what we are seeing is fiction. But I think for the few out there that can't destinguish between real and fiction it sets up some potential dangerous precedents. In all I think it can affect a very small percentage of individuals out there, but for most there is no effect. As a society do really need so much blood and graphic images to get the point across of death? My personal opinion of that is no we don't.
So 99.5% of people can handle these games and distinguish between reality and fiction and not get violent, yet you want to outlaw the games for the .5 percent who can't? That's absurd.

So the same can be applied to guns it weapons in general. Guess we need to all get on public transportation too for the small percentage who drink and drive , parent your kids the way you see fit but I'll continue to play these games and guess what? You won't see me on a shooting spree.

Lastly, as has already been said, this kid was pure evil. You can't teach evil right from wrong. Video games didn't make him do it. He did it because deep in his core his soul is black and there's a special spot where he's at right now, and I can assure you it's not where his victims are at. Have a good day.

Your wacko therapists and child psychologists came up with this crap. Its ridiculous. Kids know the difference. Parents just need to stop being friends and start disciplining the youth of today. In laments terms, whip that butt.

Should they be play shooting each OTHER with silver cap pistols wearing cowboy hats?

People don't really understand the appeal of FPS games until they play them. For me... it's about hunting something with brain enough to be hunting me which is a huge kick.

Sounds to me like, this guy is the problem, not the games. If consoles didn't exist... he would have them watching TV while he did his thing... or join a roving neighborhood band of pre-teen hoodlums... perhaps have them drive around in a green van with a hippie, a hot chick, a guy wearing an ascot, a woman wearing knee socks and a strangely hungry talking dog solving crime...

Who knows what they would be doing? He obviously doesn't want to pay them attention. Games not being there wouldn't change that.
