What is the BEST caliber in the AR15 platform

OK, so I have really got interested in the AR platform lately. I know they can be used in lots of very different ways, but what is the very best caliber to have an AR15 in IF the primary purpose of the gun is to hunt deer and hogs? I understand lots of folks are getting into the suppressors and just shooting for fun and the whole doomsday prep thing, but for pure hunting (of any species really) what is the best cartridge out there? I argue for the 6.8spc but I know lots of yall probably have other ideas, so what is it and more importantly why?

If ammo wan't so expensive, I'd love to have a 204.

The ballistics of the 6.5 grendel are impressive.

I wish I had one in a .308. But I can't afford to dump a mag into a group of hogs lol so I have a .223. I'm looking for another though. How hard is it to find 6.8 ammo?

I was debating that too for a while. The ballistics on the Grendel won vs the 6.8 and I couldnt be happier.

          Now im buliding a 6.8.

I am looking at adding an upper to my collection and looking what the next caliber. I am caught between 300 blackout and 6.8. I plan to do a trust and run it surpressed if possible.

I will be watching this topic.

I have had no problem finding it so far, even academy has it. I just got my upper in 6.8 two days ago. I am looking at adding another caliber later. I just have not been able to see the good in the blkout unless you are suppressing it. The 6.5 interests me also as does a 204.

I turned the grendel into a SPR long range rifle, and am going to be using my 6.8 as a all around truck hog/deer gun.

For a "do most anything" round, I'd have to go with the 6.5, 300 BO, then the 6.8. 223 will kill about anything in a pinch.

If you move up to the AR10, then you have the 308

                    Either 6.8, 6.5 Grendel, or 300 blackout.
I chose the 300 blackout and load with 110gr barnes tac-tx's.
I dropped an 11pt at 170yds and an 8pt at 130yds this year.
Thunderbeast 30p-1 suppressors are just waiting for ATF stamp.
Look at your ammo choices for each caliber, unless you reload.

My vote is for 300 blackout.. But obviously, with any uncommon caliber price for ammo is rather expensive

                        Suppressed-300 blackout
                        AR15 platform- I still like the 223 with a 1/7 barrel
                        AR10- 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor

I'd have to pick the 6.8spc. For what you listed it would do all you needed it to do. Now if we were to throw in the ar10 platform....the possiblilities really start to shine.

                            best i'd go 6.8

if i could only buy one .223/.556 for ammo availability and common place equipment

Best caliber in AR-15 The ole American standard .223/5.56

Suppressed 300 BLK Unsupressed its not a bad round either.

Keep the same bolt and internals and just swap barrels between the 2.
