Forced to the dentist....... May need advice.

So the other half has been after me to get to the dentist. Since they are having a special right now on new patients, she has a reason to make me go. Anyways, prolly not a bad idea because I may be getting a cavity which is weird since I floss at least once a day and obviously brush twice a day. In her eyes, I need my teeth cleaned, whitened, and invisine braces since my wisdom teeth caused the other ones to shift. 12 years of dipping prolly didnt help either.

Heres my question to the green screen while I sit and wait in the office. What does having a cavity filled entail and if it needs filling should I throw some bling in there or go natural??? Its towards the back so it wont be noticeable when I smile.

They X-ray you. Clean your teeth by slightly scraping by your gums and flossing. Find your cavities. Then they will drill them out and plaster it up... Then grind down the plaster crap so it doesn't change your bite.

Similar to patching a hole in your sheet rock.

    Piece of cake.

7 inch drill with carbide bit..usually applied with between 45 and 230psi worth of pressure to specified area in tooth...usually directly on a nerve ending.
You'll need a pair of goggles to keep the debris out of your eyes. Hope you like the smell of enamel smoke.
Get it filled with QuickCrete (you can bring your own.). Its cheaper and sets up just as fast - not to mention you an get a lifetime (yours, your kids, your grandkids...their grandkids, etc) for around $10.
If you must go with bling, have them wire up a 12v cigarette outlet.. that way you'll always have a place to plug in that Q-Beam or cell phone charger.

Point 1. The type of filling material you put into the tooth should depend on the size of the cavity, plastic(tooth colored) is recommended for smaller fillings not close to the gumline, larger fillings use amalgam, it is more reliable in the long run.

The reasearch on wisdom teeth is it is still questionable whether they actually push the teeth forward, since if you take them out the remaining teeth still want to move forward.

Dipping should be checked routinely since it can lead to oral cancer.

Cleanings are a piece of cake.

            Good luck

Everything is easy till you get the bill....I just had my cleaned and they found 2 small cavities and 2 fillings that were partially broken....$650 to repair them.....said I would need a crown replaced on another...$1200......told them I will be back when my Obama care kicks in....

Well, what I thought was a cavity was gum and tooth irritation from brushing and flossing to hard. On the down side, they found cavity on the opposite side on my wisdom tooth. Will have to get that filled. And to the lady that keeps telling me my teeth need whitening, dentist said i may not get but a couple shades whiter because my teeth are already pretty white!!!! Ha! So will get cavity filled, professional cleaning, and try the home whitening from the dentist when I can get another appointment. Just trying the whitening to see how it turns out. Ive tried crest white strips and I just cant remember to do it every day.
