    Programmer in a gas truck

Is there any point in using a programmer in a 2009 Chevy 1500 Z71 4 door?

    Are there any benefits?

I have always heard no benefit to programmers on gas engines.

I had an 03 single cab short bed Chevy with a 5.3. Had intake, exhaust and a hypertech reprogrammer. It doesn't change HP like you see on a diesel but adds some. Biggest benefit for me was changing shift points, raising the governor to 129 mph and shift firmness

It's been a while since I had one, but mine didn't do much for gas mileage or for horse power.

I did like the option to correct the speedo, change the tire size and change the gear ratio.
