I said what I said because I haven't seen factory rifles come with aftermarket triggers, or custom parts or barrels from satern or les baer, or any other high end custom maker. All that kinda stuff is replacement upgrades that I've seen. Its jmo. Please send me a link with a factory custom built gun. No offense intended. I've never seen it.

colt IS the standard because they designed the standard. the internal parts are better, the tolerances are correct, and the components that make the round go boom and impact where it is supposed to are inspected, treated, and tested individually. The screws are torqued and taked properly all over the weapon, consistently from one rifle to the next, and not locktited(rock river) or left to come loose after 500 rounds because some qc dept couldnt be bothered to check on their assembly lines(dmps and every other low end budget rifle).
Pleaae take the time to learn about the platform before you spend the cash before buyers remorse sets in. Milspec is only as good as the crap youre putting it into.

There are different parts. There are parts that are in battle rifles like Colt, BCM, Daniel Defense, etc and then there are parts that look pretty and shoot well. Two different ends of the spectrum. You can get a battle rifle with parts made to go through hell and back and then you can add on the stuff that really doesn't matter. The guys that their lives depend on their rifles could care less about the pretty parts and match triggers.
Lower end guns like DPMS and such are just not built to the same standards as the ones listed above. Why would you buy a lower end rifle and sink a ton of money in it and still just have a low end rifle with pretty parts on it? Just doesn't make sense.
I would venture to say a good rifle that won't cost you much more than a low end rifle and will shoot better than most people are capable of shooting anyway.
Ask anyone that truly knows what is a good battle rifle and they sure wont tell you it's a DPMS among many others.
Custom ARs like a Les Baer or whatever are a whole different discussion and not what this thread was about anyway.Last edited by Mike D; 12-10-2012, 10:47 PM.

I have 2 dpms rifle's love them both, I have had COLT,RRA,DTI as well, but myself just love my dpms, they will eat most any ammo you put through it i added a jard trigger because i like a lighter trigger. You can ask 10 people there opinons on black guns and may get 10 diff answers.I think you would be happy with the dpms. One thing you will figure out you can sink alot of cash into any AR making it right for you, high end,mid range or low end.Good luck
