Granite counter tops in Houston.

I have a friend who's looking to have granite counter tops installed. I had them installed about five years ago by a contractor but I can't find my contact info.

Any recommendations?

Just look for the A-frame on the back of a trailer. Get a card at the next light.

Granite prices are unbelievably low right now.

I just paid $33 a foot for 3 cm installed. Same stuff was $40 this time last year.

I do a couple of granite jobs each year and I don't even bid it out anymore. Absolute Designs does all of my work. Their prices and work quality are excellent. It is owned by Marina and Carlos Linares 832-878-0339.

Another tip. If your kitchen has a fairly linear layout you can go with pre-fab countertops and save a ton of money. GME on Long Point has pre-fab granite countertops with a 1 1/2 bullnose. Most come in 9' countertops and run around $200 each. If you have an island they have pre-fab island countertops but the available colors is pretty limited on the island coutertops.

I did the countertops for my kitchen last year using pre-fab coutertops. The island piece wasn't available so I bought an extra slab and Carlos made the island countertop and used the rest for the tops of the cabinets in the den and window sills. Even after buying an extra slab I saved about $1,000 by using the pre-fab countertops.

Granite Depot @ 7519 i-45 north did mine. i got three bids. they were the best price. they did a great job for me. i was well pleased.

Craig Baker Marble on the west side of Houston does a fine job. And you might be able to see the pig races they had out there.
