Mid size SUV MPG's

Dipping into the Braintrust.

I'm in the market for a mid sized SUV for commuting. I drive +/- 200 miles a day. I need something that has some cargo space + can carry 3 kiddos. My goal is something around 30 MPG to make an additional vehicle worth it. I've been a truck guy all of my life so I don't know much about anything else. I'm thinking something like the size of a Ford Focus, I think that's what they're called. I would rather stay out of a car, If the vehicle is capable, I might even use it for deer camp solo trips.

I spend $1200 a month on diesel, so I gotta do something! What say the Braintrust?

We have a Mazda cx-7. 2011. I got it for my wife but drive it to the plant when I'm on shift. (100 miles a day round trip. 7 days a month, I only drive on day shift). I average 28-29 mpg at 75 mph. I can get 30-31 or more on level road doing 65 but that's not worth it to me lol.
I average 19-20 in town decently heavy traffic. Only downside is the oil isn't cheap. $50-$60 per oil change. And it's so small I don't do it myself. Id get stuck lol
