I just got back from an E, N, T Doctor this morning. The main reason that I would consider doing this to be able to breathe better when running or exercising. When I run hard, or work out for extended time periods, I definitely can tell I have some constriction issues in my nostrils. This does not effect my regular day to day things, only while prolonged exercise. Th Dr. said he can fix it, but I will be off work for 4-6 days, and will take about 6 weeks to heal completely. He kept describing this procedure as "breaking out bone, rebuilding my nose". It sounds pretty serious. My insurance should cover this, but I don't know if its worth it. Have any of you had this done? Any regrets?

Yep, had it done. The surgeon cut my nose loose and laid it on my forehead while she robbed some bone to rebuild the septum. It took about six hours and I was scheduled to go on a hog hunt the next day. Missed the hunt and hurt like hell for a couple of weeks but I can breathe again. Man up and have it done. It won't hurt me a bit.

Had mine done about 35 years ago after getting my nose smashed playing basketball. I must have gotten one of the bad ones. Felt like my nose was big as a football when I woke up. When they removed the packing it got real dicey...I had blood squirting 3' out of each nostril to match my heart beat. Nurse and doctor freaked out trying to get it stopped. About 70/40 now and no way I go back to try to improve that.
