Also, unless you are trained in stress situations where fine motor skills can be compromised and manipulation of a slide and or safety is dependent on those motor skills, get a j-frame/revolver, no safety or slide to manipulate just a heavy trigger pull which you won't notice anyway when under stress, just point and shoot. I'm a semi auto fan, but nuts and bolts get it done type defensive firearms, go with a wheel gun. IMHO J-frames are nice and compact.
