    Transporting Deer across State Lines?

    Just curious,

I have land I own and hunt on in Oklahoma....If I shoot a deer there and Tag it, bring it to Texas to have processed is there any special form that has to be filled out for taking across state lines?

As long as it is properly tagged in the state it was killed you will be fine. No special permits or paperwork.

you have to check in your Oklahoma deer. As long as you have the tag on it from the check station and your log filled out you should be good. I have not tried the on line check in. Which might be a little suspect from a Texas game warden.

You have a callin check in OK now. You will be given a number for a receipt or tag. Make sure you write down the number of each deer tagged.

Y'all might want to check the rules concerning states with reported CWD. Cannot bring bones or the head (unless the head or antler plate is clean.)

How do people bring elk and mule deer back from Colorado and Utah?

You have to have a "Deer Carcass Tag" that is to remain with the animal until it's final destination. You can either stop at a check station in Oklahoma and check it in, you will be given a tag at that time, or you can check your animal in online, and print your carcass tag upon completion of check in. The way the law reads is, you must check in your animal within 24 hours after leaving the hunting area. You can check in your animal with your phone or other device, get your confirmation number and have that with you when you cross the Red, but you still need to print a tag when you get home.

The processor and Taxidermist will have the appropriate paper work, provided that you have filled out your liscense correctly
