My 14 year old daughter wants to learn to shoot a bow

So my 14 year old daughter pipes up and says she wants to learn to shoot a bow and go bow hunting with me. I am super excited!!!! She is a girly girl, all about makeup and clothes etc so I am excited that she said that out of the blue. Now heres my problem. How in the heck do I know where to start with regards to draw length and draw weight? I know I can head to Cinammon Creek and get her fitted up but I dont wanna buy new as she may try it and not stick with it, I would rather buy used. So pipe up you fathers out there and give me the gouge, Ive only ever had to worry about my gear, I am lost LOL but excited for the opportunity to share this time with my baby girl.

I'd start off with some near 30# or possibly less. You can measure her draw length in a bunch of different ways. I measured mine by putting my left fist against the wall (like you're holding a bow) and then turning my head towards the wall & measuring to my nose. Good luck with her and congrats on her wanting to take up an amazing hobby!!! I can't wait til my little girl gets old enough to start hunting!

Go to CCR and get her fitted for size and DW, then buy used. Just because they help you does not mean you are obligated to buy from them.

I got my son a Misson Craze. I figured it would be a good backup bow for me if he didn't take to archery. That Craze will go from 15Lbs-70Lbs and 19in-30in.

I know, but I feel weird about doing that.

Good plan with the draw length, Thanks rossivey!!!

Yeah, maybe a good bow that has a wide range of adjustments would do the trick, thanks Hoggslayer.

Why? It happens every day. They know it happens, and still help people. It will be fine.

                  this should help
couldnt get the link to work but go to ehow or type in getting your draw length in google

basicly stretch your arms out on a wall mark your finger tips measure and divide by 2.5

Buy Geniveves (Sp) diamond. They have crazy amount of adjustments to them. And she has a decent price on it as well.
