This past weekend my daughter had 2 cheer competitions - one Saturday and one Sunday at Reliant and GRB.. so, my youngest son - 3 years old - and I loaded up the truck Friday night, and got out of dodge early Saturday morning --heading South to the Ranch to spend a day just about him.
We get to the Ranch about 10am, unload the Ranger and go get some corn from the conex.
This is were my son officially became a redneck. I could not have been more proud.
After wiping away my tears of joy, and helping him pull his pants back up, we started cruising around the ranch, checking feeders and trailcams, and talking to cows...a lot of talking to cows.. yelling at cows.. making fun of cows... a three yearold never tires of the "MOOOOVE cow!" joke...
After spending a few hours driving around, seeing some deer movement..and explaining why we dont see coyotes on every trip..for the 16th time.. we head back to camp and grab some grub.
We load the rifles , his...and mine, and head out to one of my favorite deer watching stand - which becomes a zoo of does, fawns, yearlings and young bucks every evening..
We got situated in the stand, and I handed him my phone to play games on to occupy him while we awaited the show that would happen in about 20 minutes.. he'd play for a minute..then look out every window, say "Where dey at daddy?".. and repeat.
...thank God.. Feeder went off on time..and the deer started piling out of the brush over to the feeder.. I stood him on on the chair.. turned on the video cam on my phone..and the hunt began..
