Conditioning deer idea, tell me if it works

We've been getting busted non stop by deer smelling us. Under heard of people leaving sweaty clothing in the stands all the time to get the deer used to that odor in the area, therefore, they don't get alarmed. Anyone ever do this? Did it work?

you have deer coming around while in the stand? We're not seeing anything except at night

I've heard people doing that and leaving a shirt in the stand but never tried it. I think just being out on my place feeding, working, etc. year round conditions them fairly well.

I have used the stink shirt method to kill a mature buck. I started putting out the shirt in late July at a specific stand but I did kill him opening weekend.

Why on the stand? Why not on the feed pen ? That is what I used to do. I'd put a dirty sock or some day old undies on the barb wire. Always makes for some interesting conversation Around The Camp Fire at night .

Do you have to change out the shirt/sock twice a week or so?

My problem is trying to get the old doe to ignore me on my naked 10' tripod. Plan to put another about 50-75 yards down wind a snipe her.

I've heard of people doing this to get deer to avoid certain trails so they would use the trail that goes by their setup. I guess if you start early enough it could condition them to the smell. Just make sure to run some wind sprints before you get in stand so you smell accordingly.

No, hanging one for two weeks works fine. They will usually use another part of the pen to enter from. But after two weeks, they don't seem to mind much. I've had them enter right beside it after two weeks.
