    Deer disappeared ?

You know I've had some slow deer seasons since I started some 30 years ago, but this one has to take the cake. We're not seeing activity in day light hours and no pics on cameras. But we are finding a few scrapes and rubs "wat gives?" Anybody else having the same problems? By the way I hunt in gatesville. Just want to see if I'm the only one. And by the way my feeders have been off for three weeks and still have corn on the ground. Thanks in advance!!

yeah i hunt just outside of cranfills gap in Hamilton county and we're not seeing much either. im led to believe its the hot weather, it isn't cool enough for them to have to get up and move around to keep warm

Same here, I haven't had a shot at a doe all season. I've just started to get a doe or two in the day time. I have passed on three young and legal deer that just didn't trip my trigger.

Get away from the feeder, that is the only way I have seen deer.

i'm hunting just west of goldthwaite, and i've seen a total of four deer in my feeder pen all year. i took a couple weeks off and when i checked my camera i had over 700 pics with 95 percent of them taken at night. been a real tough year that's for sure and i really wanted to tag out this year since it's going to be our last year on the lease, but i don't think that's going to happen unless things pick up.

We only see deer very near bedding areas in Concho cnty. Rare we see at feeders. I would saw this is the year you have to get on the ground and use the wind. I shot him still hunting 2 weeks ago Click image for larger version

My opinion is this as well...too hot this year, and the deer I hunt are moving at night. But if the corn isn't getting eaten..... Sounds like too much feeder competition....?

I have only seen them away from feeders.

I have heard the drought might have played its part, and there are fewer deer this year.

                          This^^^^

I have seen a lot of nice deer this year when others are not seeing a thing. I moved to the edges of bedding areas and have been watching the deer movement from high in the pines. The deer have been eating briars and green leaves and the bucks have been maintaining the does. They are staying very close to the thickets and movement has been extremly slow. I have seen more deer between 7:30-9am than any other time. This is in Walker county.
Only deer that have been visiting feeders are yearlings.

Yea, that could be playing a role
