I checked cams this morning and its definitely over in Caldwell county - lots of pics of bachelor groups (even some with does with them). Sure wish I knew rut ever began. very odd year

Only rut I saw was last weekend in October with the full moon. Think the drought last year threw everything off! Saw a ton of young bucks and very few mature bucks or doe for that matter!

X3 - lots of young bucks and buck to doe ratio for me looks wayyyyyyy off this year glad to see all the young bucks but a bit concerned about how this affects this next few years. I didn't see any bucks until mid November. Saw no deer in august thru October in person or game cam. Just came out of no where.

We live NW of Dripping Springs and see anywhere from 10 to 35 deer on our place each day. Buck/doe ratio is about 8 to one. No where near all the does get bred. As a result, the does continue to come into estrus and get bred into Feb and having fawns as late as Sept.
