Broke out the heavy weights this weekend. 300 Win Mag and Ruger 480. Called in some turkeys at 4:30 Saturday night. At 25 yards let loose the 480 and perfect spine shot on a big hen. 5 minutes before end of hunt time two does walk in (97 yards). The 300 barked, both does ran. Went to check it out. Lung tissue all over. Not much of a blood trail. Finally found her around 40 yards away. Hit her high midway up just behind the leg. Made a rookie mistake. The rifle is zeroed two inches high at 100 yards. Compensated the wrong direction. And forgot my camera
. All I had was my cheap Tracfone.
Also met one of Palo Pinto's finest afterwards, running into Strawn to get some ice. Didn't slow down fast enough coming into town and blue lights started flashing. Got off with a warning.
