What do you think her odds of survival would be? She has a hard time walking and swings the leg as counter balance.

I knew the right answer, just did not make the right decision. She walked across a 15yard gap and I lamented too long. I hava a large mature 140-150" 8pointer in the area I have been after and am trying not to make him move his home range. I will not make the same mistake twice as I did letting her pass. It is the moral thing to do, shame on me for not doing it the first time.Last edited by Greenheadless; 12-02-2012, 09:30 AM.

I had a doe many years ago who had a similar injury and I could not grt a shot.
Saw her the next year with twins jumping fences. Leg had rotted off and she was healthy.

Had a young buck show up at my feeder 2 years ago--had a huge hole in his shoulder (1st Monday of gun season). He had a hard time getting through my 2-wire fence, but made it. I couldn't let him go so drove a Razorhead through his chest. He left the feeder pen like nothing was wrong with him, ran about 35 yds and tipped over. I tagged and processed him even though that shoulder was nasty and stayed in the woods. Three days later I was boning and trimming and realized the meat smelled bad--so it ended up at the buzzard buffet. No regrets about burning the tag--I'd do it again without a moment's hesitation. And no, that's not a Rage exit wound.
