Congrats on your bird, as I know how hard and far you had to walk for it. They aren't around like they used to be. Dang drought is/has had a huge effect on our bird population here in SW Kansas. If you don't mind my asking, where are/were you hunting?

And by the way, it is rifle season here right now, so hunter orange is STRONGLY recommended.

Yes the local friend there did say it was dry as a bone this year and has been for a while. Not much taller thicker cover at all anywhere around where we were which was in Sublette in far S.W.Kansas. There is not any other hunting going on in the area at all so we didn't bother with the hunter orange, I did have it but didn't use it. There are a ton of Jack rabbits there which are practically extinct here in Texas as far as I can tell.
