    Fence line?????

Do any of my brother hunters like to hunt close to a fence line? And if so why?

Not really , but I have !! Mainly due to the size of the land we were on , you really couldn't help it !! I think most people who do it are stuck in the idea that " the grass is greener on the other side " .

The lay of the land. The place I hunt is only 330 yards wide. I found a couple of places where the deer are crossing and then trails merge as they go to various parts. I like to hunt where the trails merge. Increases the odds of catching a deer moving.

I guess you could say that one of my stands is "on the fence line". I hunt on 6,000 acres of piney woods with 60 members.

My stand and feeder are positioned so that there is no way to see the "other side" much less shoot across. I like this spot because being at "the end of the line" keeps other members from driving thru to their set ups. My set ups are not disturbed by lease traffic.

It has nothing to do with the "grass is greener". The same deer on the other side of fence as on my side.

I was 40yds off a fence for a few years. Bow only. Old stand 200yds away I could watch deer stroll the fence and walk a little ridge that met the fence like a T. Shot a few deer. Several turkey, few pigs. Never had anything I shot make it over the fence. 1 deer did hit the fence.

Fence lines make great travel routes for deer.

50 yds off fence line right now. Great travel routes. Several trails crossing fence into my area.

Fences can be like funnels. If there is an easy spot to cross the critters seem to use it.

Here at the house I am sitting 25-30yds from neighbors fence. Property is long and narrow so I do not have much choice plus the neighbors don't hunt this side anyway. If I thought it was causing a problem I would move.

As far as the grass being greener there is no truth to that. All low fence ( except behind me) so the deer are free to roam. The grass might be greener behind me but only because they have/had red deer and sika in the high fence. Pretty sure the pigs have releaaed most of them due to tearing holes in the high fence.

I don't know why so many people get bent about the neighbors hunting close to the fence. Unless they are shooting (poaching) deer before they get to their side or are set up to where they are creating an unsafe condition (feeder against fence where projectile would easily cross ) then get over it. The deer belong to the state
I do understand the need to high fence out neighbors who will not let the deer mature or the guy with 20ac who feels the need to fill all of his tags as well as his buddies just because the 300ac neighbor tries to manage for mature bucks

Yes, and I even set up to shoot across them exclusively*

We have poachers that neighbor us, so i sit on the fence.

I dont know why i keep missing these deer before they jump to the neighbors land?

Only if my property is on both sides of the fence

I'm about to attempt a set in a tree that is the only real option for the area. Its about 15yds from neighbor. They don't deer hunt. I will let them know I'm there just to keep good neighbors. I have 125 acres, they have atleast 1200. I sho would like to hunt it someday. I will only set feeders in from fenceline as to not be shooting across or down.

We have, but the part we do no one hunts it, and then we have a guy hunting on ours, but he can't really pull deer over there cause he any feed like us
And it's not like his place is small, it's 3000+ acres

Our place is 100% woods and the neighbor (on two sides) is 100% pasture. He has blinds and feeders all along our fence line, literally 5 ft off of it so that no deer can step off our place without being in the line of fire. Thankfully he doesn't hunt that much (we hear him riding his atv to the stands) so we just stay away from those fence lines during season. Hopefully he is management minded.
