Alex Smith or Colin Kaepernik?

Agree.Harbaugh didn't draft Smith and he has been waiting for a reason to put Kapernick in it seems like.Never thought you should lose your job to injury either.

Smith has been pretty reliable the last few seasons but it seems the ceiling is much higher with Kap. Just watching the last few games it seems they've opened the playbook. I'm not a niners fan but I've rooted for Smith to do well because I think he's been in a tough situation in San Fran but unless Kap throws 4 interceptions in a game Smith may be looking elsewhere for work, whether fair or not.

All smith has done the past two seasons is win. He might not put up gaudy numbers, but he doesn't turn the ball over either. I would take him in the big D but he would not do very good since Garrett doesn't like to run the ball.

Didn't Harbaugh trade up for Kaepernick? Doesn't sound like Smith was intended to be the long term guy.

Didn't this similar situation happen with Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady?? Bledsoe got his job back in the playoffs but Brady got them there and proved he was better during that time. Didn't that happen??


QB controversy can't be good inside the locker room

49ers have a great defense, a great running game, stocked up on great recievers, great tight end, and Alex smith the game managing QB that can't throw down field well. He is not a terrible QB but he is not great either and the rest of his team is more responsible for the wins. Imagine if they had picked up P. Manning in the offseason. I think they want to see if what I just said is true and determine Kaepernicks ceiling and floor. The boy does have an arm on him and they are still winning with him as QB. ballsy call for Harbough though.

I played with Colin in college. Good guy that works hard. Glad he is getting a chance to show what he has to offer.

Smith is an avg. 1 dimensional QB , 4.7 ... 40yd dash , 28 yrs old

Kaepernick can beat you beat you with his arm or feet , 4.5 ...40 yd dash , just turned 25


Kaep all day long , he gives you a better shot to WIN based on his mobility

Colin, he is just a better player. Alex is very average, if it wasn't for Harbaughs scheme Smtih would be the bust everyone thought he would be.
