    Kinife making question

I have made alot of knives, but wanting to step it up and do more custom work, like file work on the back or on tang. I know how to do some file work like the vine, but what do you use between the knife and handle to fill in the edges/filing? here is a pic of the file I can do, but what is the black that fills the handle in? thanks for any help

I'm not a knife maker, but I bet some colored epoxy would do what you are looking for.

It's just epoxy. you can over apply when fixing the handle to the tang and make sure it comes out over the spine and just sand it down to where you are eventually polishing the file work on the spine. (This is the most effective if you ask me)

Or You can go over the file work after you fix the handle. Just make sure it goes down in the grooves good.

Agree, colored epoxy. I use a tiny bit of Testors model paint and put it in my epoxy when I glue up the handles. Fills in the filework nicely. I've only used black, but I suppose red would work as well.
