    Bronco enthusiasts or mechanics?

Need some help from the green screen. Last week after a day of hunting I ran over a log that had dry rotted and a section of it popped up in between the frame rail and the transmission lodging it into reverse.

After driving in reverse the whole way back to camp and removing the log I found that it bent the shifting rod that is part of the cable and the retainer clip that holds the cable in place so the cable can slide within its self.

Long story short...anybody ever replaced these things? Im not a newb when it comes to car repair but was just wondering what I'm going to be getting into? I just purchased a new one ($100 later) and will be heading up to the ranch in a week or two.

    Thanks guys

I'll be of no help, but someone will want to know what year model & which engine/transmission/transfer case you have. Good luck

Is it a fullsize Bronco? What year and what kind of auto trans does it have? E4OD, C6, AOD? I R&R'ed an E4OD and the older AOD from a 93 and an 86 before, but that was many years ago.

Measure how much shaft you have out...what gear the selector is in....and what gear the trans is in. You might have to do some adjusting. The female part of the cable should be threaded and you will have to get it in the right spot. One way or the other will make the cable longer or shorter.

                  Make sence?

The cable is no good anymore...I'm having to replace it with another one. Or are you talking about the new one?

Look into Fullsizebronco.com as well. My buddy had to replace the shifting cable on his 95 F150 a few times, but he had the AOD, and I can't remember how we used to do it

Im saying to take note of the length of the shaft as it is now, before you install the new one.

That way....you wont have the selector in "neutral" and the trans will actually be in "reverse".
